கொரோனா அச்சத்துக்கு இடையே கேரளாவில் பரவும் புதிய வகை பாக்டீரியா - ஷிகெல்லா - கோழிக்கோட்டில் 11 வயது சிறுவன் பலி.
கேரளாவில் கொரோனா பாதிப்பு தொடர்ந்து அதிகரித்து வரும் நிலையில், தற்போது ஷிகெல்லா என்ற புதிய வகை தொற்று நோய் பரவி வருவதால், அம்மாநில மக்கள் கலக்கத்தில் ஆழ்ந்துள்ளனர்.
கேரளாவில் கொரோனா பாதிப்பு அதிகரித்து வருவதால், அங்கு கொரோனா விதிகள் கடுமையாக அமல்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. சபரிமலைக்கு வரும் பக்தர்கள், முன்பதிவு செய்திருந்தால் மட்டுமே அனுமதிக்கப்படுகின்றனர். மேலும், நாளொன்றுக்கு 2 ஆயிரம் பேர் வரை மட்டுமே சபரிமலைக்கு செல்வதற்கு அனுமதி அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்தச் சூழலில், கேரளாவின் கோழிக்கோடு மாவட்டத்தில் ஷிகெல்லா என்ற புதிய வகை தொற்று நோய் பரவி வருகிறது. மனிதக்கழிவு, அதில் கலக்கும் தண்ணீர் மூலம் இந்நோய் பரவி வருவதாக கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. கொரோனாவை போன்று பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களிடம் இருந்து மற்றவருக்கும் இந்நோய் பரவி வருவதால், கோழிக்கோட்டில் வசித்து வரும் மக்கள் கலக்கத்தில் ஆழ்ந்துள்ளனர்.
இந்தச் சூழலில், இந்நோய் தாக்குதலுக்கு ஆளான 11 வயது சிறுவன் உயிரிழந்துள்ளான். மேலும், 50-க்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். அனைத்து வயதினரையும் இந்நோய் தாக்கி வருவதால், வீடு, வீடாகச் சென்று சுகாதாரத் துறையினர் நோய் தடுப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.
Shigella outbreak in Kerala brought under control, assures state health minister
Kozhikode: An 11-year-old boy died after getting infected with the Shigella disease, a highly contagious bacterial infection, in the Kozhikode district of Kerala last week. The state health department has advised people to not panic but remain cautious.
The health department has said that there are six confirmed cases of the disease so far. A special medical camp held at Kottamparamba in Kozhikode on Saturday has revealed 19 more suspected cases of the disease, in addition to the 25 suspected cases that were reported before. All the confirmed and suspected cases are within the Kozhikode corporation limits.
The health department has also said that most of the suspected cases are of people who had attended the funeral of the deceased child, who might have taken contaminated food or water from there.
Kerala’s health minister K.K. Shailaja has said that all the houses in affected areas will be inspected and samples of water and food will be collected for testing.
District health authorities have also started super-chlorination of wells in the affected areas and are also inspecting eateries and hotels.
